Bible Questions & Answers

Q: Who is Jesus Christ?

First:  Jesus is God!

John 1:13 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."

1 John 5:6-8 "This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. "

Jesus therefore, is God incarnate (in a body). Thus Isaiah names Him Immanuel in Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."

Second: Jesus is the Son of God; the visible, physical form of God.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Phillipians 2:6 "Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God"

Third:  Jesus is the 'Dayspring from on high'

Luke 1:78 "Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,"

Jesus is light given in every sense of the word. In Genesis 1:3, God says "Let there be light", but doesn't create the sun until verse 16 "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.".  1 John 1:5 says "God is light' so since God the Faher was already on the scene in Genesis 1:1 and we alrea- dy learned that Jesus is God, This then, is an application of the Light of Jesus being applied to this earth to give everything the power to be.

John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." and again in 9:5 "As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world."

John 1:6-10 "There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That (Jesus) was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Fourth:  Jesus is the 'Lamb of God", the atonement sacrifice for all the sin of mankind.

John 1:29 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world".

Hebrews 2:9 "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man".

John 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us".

Fifth:  Also, Jesus is the Redeemer who paid the debt

2 Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him".

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."
